Positano, the most vertically scenic of the villages along the Amalfi coast, dates back to the 10th Century AD
Positano
Put on the tourist map in the 1950s, after John Steinbeck published his essay about Positano in Harper's Bazaar, one of the striking things about Positano is the buildings, which sit quite literally on the cliff edge. The structure of the town is very original, the small houses, characteristic of Positano, form the subject of endless photos.
Protected from the Northern winds by the Lattari Mountains, Positano has a mild and dry climate. A refuge for Russian and German artists and writers persecuted in war and dictatorship, Positano is often remembered for the presence of many elegant villas.
