Riviera di Ponente

Centred on the port of Genoa, the Riviera di Ponente is home to many villages and towns such as Portofino, Lerici and Bordighera, which are internationally known and attract an influx of tourists through the summer months. The bustling city of San Remo is also a popular vacation destination in the Riviera di Ponente.

Perhaps overlooked by travellers in more recent years, the many family beach resorts and sandy resorts in the area are shaded by palm trees taken there from Egypt in the fourth century. Dating back to the Middle Ages many of the resorts are set in some beautiful surroundings. Popular with ramblers keen on exploring the green mountains and tiny villages of the Via dei Monti Liguri, the very mild and sunny climate found here means that tourists flock here all year round.

Accommodation here is plentiful and there is something for all tastes from well-developed family oriented towns like Finale Ligure to the attractive medieval town of Albenga.
