Probably the most beautiful and unspoilt of the seven Canary Islands, and perhaps the least well-known, La Palma is relatively unspoilt and is a perfect destination for those seeking peace and quiet, beautiful scenery and natural beauty of the island.
Only 200 kilometres west of the coast of Morocco, La Palma, (also known as La Isla Bonita, meaning ‘the beautiful island’) has an excellent climate and gentle atmosphere which combines perfectly with the exceptional beauty of the surrounding mountains and the quaint whitewashed houses of the sleepy towns.
La Palma also has plenty to offer for those looking for pleasant beaches. Most of the sandy beaches (black volcanic sand) are centred around Puerto Naos, Puerto de Tazacorte and Los Cancajos.
La Palma is also home to the largest volcano in the world – La Caldera de Taburiente which is a spectacular sight.
