Most day trips to Priene, Miletus and Didyma end up in Altinkim. Like many idyllic retreats that have experienced rapid growth, Didymas’s success has spilled over into neighbouring towns and consequently Altinkum can get very busy in the summer months.

As many Turks holiday here, you will find that Altinkum is a friendly resort and the locals are very friendly towards tourists. Meaning “golden sands” ("altin: gold" + "kum:sand"), Altinkum has three main beautiful, unspoilt sandy beaches, safe for children, inviting blue seas– everything you could ask for on your relaxing holiday. Offering a plentiful supply of water-sports such as windsurfing, parasailing and dingy-hiring there is everything to suit all tastes.

There is no shortage of bars and restaurants offering a range of Turkish and British food. For good-value authentic Turkish cuisine, you are advised to stray away from the beach-side retsaurants – remember to sample a glass of Turkey's famous apple tea!
