Snowdonia is a region of North Wales that incorporates Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales. Snowdonia National Park was introduced in 1951. 838 square miles in area, it was the first area in Wales to be deignated a national park to ensure protection of this area of outstanding natural beauty.

Home to the highest range of mountains in England and Wales, climbers arrive to scale Snowdon, (second highest mountain in Britain) either by foot or by the Snowdon Mountain Railway which runs from Llanberis to the summit.

If you want to explore by car, other popular surrounding villages include Llanberis, Llandudno, Beddgelert and Betws-y-Coed. Snowdonia is also fringed by the coastlines of the Lleyn Peninsula and Cambrian Coast with their superb beaches.
