The Gold Coast is the region of the southeastern coast of Florida between Palm Beach and Miami. A small trading post a century ago, Miami now covers 5,180 sq km and has a population of 2 million.
The metropolis includes the cities of West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Pompano Beach and Hollywood, as well as the famous spring-break town of Fort Lauderdale. Other sights include Little Havana, the heart of the city’s Cuban population.
Florida's Gold Coast oozes sophistication and glamour. There is plenty for all tastes, a stroll at sunset, shopping with the rich and famous or taking a leisurely swim, or tasting the nightlife which is unlike anywhere else in Florida. Of the 21 patrolled beaches on the Gold Coast, Miami Beach, main Beach and Surfers Paradise are the most popular.
