Fire Certificates will be abolished

Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) changes have been made to make the law easier to understand.

From the 1st October 2006 there is now a greater move towards fire prevention for non-domestic premises, including the voluntary sector and self-employed people with premises separate from their own homes.

Responsibility now rests with the responsible person. If there is more than one responsible person in any type of premises, all must take resonable steps to comply.

Responsible indivduals will have to carry out a fire risk assessment which must focus on the safety in case of fire of all 'relevant persons'.

Fire Risk Assessment

Your fire risk assessment must pay particular attention to identifying risks concerned with disables persons and those with special needs.

Your assessment must include dangerous substances likely to be on the premises.
Your fire risk assessment will help you to identify risks that can be removed or reduced and to decide the nature and extent of the general fire precautions you need to take to protect people against the fire risks that remain.

The fire safety reforms are applicable to employers and building owners with more than 5 employees or visitors to their premises.

Fire Assessment Risk Packs

The easiest way to comply is to purchase a documentation pack that contains all of the required forms and procedures laid out for you to follow. When you purchase a pack you simply need to complete each form as indicated and put into place a procedure to ensure you maintain your records on a regular basis.
