About the property
The house is a 19th Century terraced cottage with thick stone walls and a slate roof. It has been fully and lovingly renovated, bringing together traditional materials and techniques with good modern design.
The ground floor is completely open plan - ideally suited for sociable evenings of cooking, eating, conversation and family fun. It comprises an open kitchen with solid oak worktops, living area with sofa, armchair and coffee table, and a large dining table and chairs. The kitchen is fully equipped including a washing machine, tumble dryer and dish washer.
Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one with a small double bed and a cot and the second with full size bunkbeds. The armchair downstairs converts into a single futon-bed and can fit in the double bedroom if needed. The bathroom has a WC, wash basin, bath with shower above and shelving.
Visitors can play and picnic in the garden, which is across the single track road which runs in front of the house.

We provide bedding but ask you to bring towels and tea towels with you.

The house is in Montreuil Poulay - a small village with a bar, a shop and a church, about 80 miles from the ferry ports at Caen and St. Malo, and not much further from Cherbourg. If you are travelling by air there are currently lo-cost flights to Dinard and Tours - each about 80 miles from the house. Half way between the historic towns of Mayenne and Lassay les Chateaux, in the region of the Pays de Loire, Montreuil Poulay is an ideal base from which to explore the neighbouring regions of Brittany and Normandy as well as the local Mayenne department. This lovely part of France is renowned for its cheeses and fruit - apples for cider and calvados, and pears for perry.
