About the property
Olive Grove apartment is a bright, modern, spacious, one bedroom holiday home of 50 sq/mtrs. It is set on the edge of the olive groves near a small hillside village, with the sea to the west (so you should get some spectacular sunsets) and the Taigetos mountains to the east. This is rural Greece at its best, where the villagers wave to you as they pass by on their way to work in the olive groves or to tend their sheep and goats. The nightlife here is listening to the cicadas and watching the lights of the fishing boats in the bay. There are excellent tavernas only 5 minutes drive down the hill, and the gently sloping Santava beach is just 5kms. This beautiful area of Greece begs to be explored, with the historic sites of Mystra, Messini and Olympia all easily reached for a day trip, and walking the Taigetos gorges is not to be missed. Olive Grove apartment has every thing you need for a great holiday, and its position and stunning views make it a very special place for you to relax and unwind
Kitchen Notes
For those days when you're not eating out the apartment boasts a fully fitted kitchen complete with full size cooker, microwave oven, fridge (with a small freezer compartment) and toaster. It is well equipped with crockery, glassware and cutlery and will comfortably seat four people. There is also a table, chairs and a sun umbrella on the patio.
Kalianeika has no shop or taverna, but fresh fruit and vegetables are available from the vans that visit the village most days. There are small shops in Stavropigio and large supermarkets in Kalamata and Stoupa.
For picnics or lunch on the beach, ice packs and a large coolbag are provided.
A small welcome pack of produce and wine will be here on your arrival.
Living/Lounge Area Notes
A spacious and comfortable lounge area with seating for four including the sofa bed. The views from the windows are looking out over the olive groves and across the Bay of Messini or looking up towards the hills and mountains.
There is a full Hi-Fi system including a CD player (don't forget to bring your favourite tapes or CD's with you) and a TV. There are also books, maps and games.
Fans are supplied to help cope with the summer heat and electric heaters to keep out the chill for our winter guests.
We ask that people who smoke do so only outside the apartment.
Bedroom Notes
The light and airy bedroom has twin beds, a small dressing table with hair dryer, a wardrobe and a bedside table. There is a double sofa bed in the lounge. A cot is also available.
All linen is supplied, including beach towels, and changed twice a week.
There is a double "English" electric socket on the dressing table for your use.
The windows throughout the apartment are fitted with shutters so sleeping with the windows open and the shutters closed ( night time or siesta!) gives you fresh air and the minimum number of "bugs". A plug-in bug killer is supplied
Local Amenities & Attractions
Olive Grove apartment is situated on the edge of the small rural village of Kalianeika. It is 3km up the hill from the pretty harbour of Kitries and 5km from the gently sloping shingle beach of Santava. Kalamata is 17km away and has a colourful, bustling sea front which runs for 4km from the port, past countless tavernas and hotels to the Filoxenia Hotel. The popular, sandy beaches of Stoupa and Kalogria are 20km away , after passing through the picturesque town of Kardamili with its traditional Mani tower houses in the old town.
Booking Notes
Our prices include the following : "Meet and greet" at Kalamata airport. All towels and bed linen (changed twice weekly). Electricity and water charges. A "welcome" pack of basic provisions to get you started .
Payment: A non refundable deposit of 10% of total rental is required for all bookings made more than 2 weeks in advance of arrival date . Full payment is required 2 weeks before arrival. Payment is to be by a cheque drawn on either a Sterling or Euro account. Details of where to send your payment will be sent to you with your booking confirmation. Discounts apply for stays of more than 2 weeks.
Your stay can be as long or short as you wish, but flights direct from the UK arrive on Sundays.
Vacation of the apartment on departure days is flexible and is dependant on the next visitors arrival. We will arrange this with you during your stay and would ask for your co-operation.
Bathroom/Ensuite Notes
The fully tiled shower room with toilet and wash hand basin is built and finished to modern standards.
All towels, including beach towels, are supplied and changed twice weekly.
Hot water is supplied by immersion heater and not reliant on solar power, so on the occasional grey day during the winter months you can still have a hot shower.
